The CoESS Working Committee Maritime Security is proud to announce the publication of its manual entitled ‘European Training Manual for Maritime Security Personnel - ISPS Code’.
From July 15-22, 2008, CoESS’ Secretary-General, Hilde De Clerck, was invited by SIA, the South-African Security Industry Alliance, South-Africa’s national confederation for the private security industry, to attend an intensive study visit in Johannesburg and Pretoria.
From June 23-26, 2008, CoESS’ Secretary-General, Hilde De Clerck, was invited by the Cyprus Association of Security Companies (CASC), member of CoESS, to attend a three-day seminar.
On May 22-23, 2008 CoESS was invited to speak on the Services Directive at the Academic Public Security Summit that was organised in Valkenburg, The Netherlands, under the expert guidance of Prof. Dr. Marc Cools.
On April 18, 2008 CoESS actively participated in a conference organised by the European Commission on ‘Promoting Best Value through Social Dialogue’. The aim of the conference was to promote the handbooks issued by social partners in the following sectors: contract catering, cleaning, private security and clothing-textiles, assisting purchasers in selecting best value bids, i.e. awarding contracts not only on the basis of the price, but also taking into account various qualitative elements.
On June 12, 2008 CoESS, in collaboration with CEPS, Centre for European Policy Studies, will organise a Private Security Summit ‘Private Security at the Crossroad of the EU’s Future’ in the Stanhope Hotel in Brussels.
On April 2, 2008 CoESS actively participated in SNES’ General Assembly, which was hosted at the INHES Institute (Institut National des Hautes Etudes de Sécurité) in Paris, France. SNES is one of the French private security associations, member of CoESS.
On March 7, 2008 SNES, one of CoESS’ French member federations, and USP, the second French private security association, candidate member of CoESS, signed a joint declaration which will unite both associations in their joint activities to overcome the economic and structural crisis the French private security market is currently facing and to further develop and promote the private security sector as a whole.
CoESS is proud to announce that it recently entered into a sponsorship and cooperation agreement with Security Europe. Located in Brussels, Security Europe specialises in providing information and analyses on EU and NATO civil security policy developments and their impact on public and private stakeholders.
On February 26, 2008 APROSER, the Spanish private security association, member of CoESS, in collaboration with AES (Asociación española de Empresas de Seguridad), organised a workshop entitled ‘Private Security in Spain - State of play and possible future need for a legislative reform’ in the framework of the SICUR Exhibition (International Security, Safety and Fire Exhibition, February 26-29, 2008 in Madrid, Spain).
