As security systems and services become increasingly connected, cybersecurity risks must be addressed across the entire security chain rather than treated solely as an IT or product issue. The updated Guidelines provide hands-on recommendations covering product development, system design, installation and maintenance, monitoring and alarm response. They address key organisational and technical measures, including cybersecurity governance, risk assessments, management of connected IT and OT assets, incident response and business continuity. Particular attention is also given to training and awareness, as well as clear cooperation and allocation of responsibilities between customers, suppliers and security service providers. The publication reflects the rapidly evolving EU regulatory framework, including the NIS2 Directive and Cyber Resilience Act, alongside other relevant legislation such as the EU Cybersecurity Act, GDPR and AI Act. By bringing these elements together, CoESS and Euralarm aim to support companies in translating growing cybersecurity requirements into practical measures throughout the lifecycle of security systems and services.
