CoESS at ESTA Conference in Berlin: Preparedness starts with Cash Resilience

CoESS was pleased to participate in the ESTA Conference in Berlin, joining discussions on why the cash industry remains crucial in an increasingly digital payments ecosystem. The exchanges underlined the essential role of cash and Cash-in-Transit services in ensuring societal resilience, continuity and preparedness.

Discussions focused on customer expectations, the real-world role of cash services, and the need to guarantee access to cash under all circumstances. Speakers highlighted that cash resilience depends on strong preparedness, operational continuity and close cooperation across the entire payments chain. The conference also provided an important security update on evolving threat patterns and risks affecting the CiT sector in Europe and the United States, underlining the need for continuous adaptation, intelligence-sharing and robust operational practices.

For CoESS, a central point of interest remains the European Commission’s Cross-Border CiT Study, on which the sector remains highly sceptical. This issue has already been discussed in the European Sectoral Social Dialogue with the European Commission, and CoESS calls for strong involvement of EU Sectoral Social Partners in any review process. The conference was also a valuable opportunity to connect with CoESS members from the CiT industry and to further strengthen dialogue and cooperation across the private security sector.
