CoESS Deputy Director General Alexander Frank took part in a panel discussion on the growing integration of technology into private security services, with a focus on artificial intelligence and drones . He highlighted the strong potential of these technologies to improve the quality, resilience and efficiency of security services, while also pointing to continued regulatory and administrative barriers. At the same time, the increased connectivity and digitalisation of equipment and services would highlight the important for companies to take cyberresilience very seriously.

On AI, he stressed the importance of clear guidance on the EU AI Act and high-risk use-cases, and of ensuring that companies have the right governance and skills in place. On drones, CoESS underlined the need for simpler and more predictable authorisation procedures to enable wider operational use, notably for the protection of large sites and critical infrastructure.

The discussion also addressed the growing importance of cybersecurity as an integral part of modern security services and the need for procurement and market conditions that better reward innovation and quality.
