While the demand for security services is increasing, the industry faces structural labour and skills shortages. It is key for the sector to attract a young, diverse workforce, and to provide workers with relevant skills that reflect innovative service solutions. As part of the EU-funded Social Partner Project "INTEL: Next Generation", the European Social Partners for the sector, CoESS and UNI Europa, have now kicked off perception studies among young workers in six EU Member States to better understand how the industry can be more attractive to new workers.
The research is conducted among young workers in Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Italy, Romania and the Netherlands, and touches upon matters such as work values, expectations in terms of working conditions, perception of career pathways and quality of training.
The first surveys have now been launched, and the entire outreach campaign to workers will take place throughout March and April 2025. The Social Partners are thereby supported by topical experts and researchers in the six countries:
Respective country reports will be published and discussed in public workshops with the national Social Partners in the second half of 2025.
